Christ Rule In Your Heart

And he said, Where unto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?
— Mark 4:30
Have you ever wondered what the Kingdom of God is like? The word "kingdom" means "the realm over which a king rules." In God’s context, it refers to all creation, since "his kingdom ruleth over all" (Psalm 103:19). But more often, it applies to His rule in and through those who are submitted to Him. The Kingdom of God specifically refers to Christ living and ruling in our hearts.
What does it mean when we pray, "Thy kingdom come"? We’re praying for the expansion of God’s rule in the hearts of people everywhere. It’s also about the ultimate establishment of His physical Kingdom here on earth at His second coming (Revelation 11:15; 20:4).
Did the Jews understand this during Jesus' ministry? Not quite. They expected Jesus to establish a physical kingdom and free them from Roman oppression. While Jesus will physically rule over the nations during the Millennium, His Kingdom is now established spiritually by His Word, not by carnal weapons (2 Corinthians 10:3-5).
Jesus said, "The Kingdom of God cometh not with observation... behold, the kingdom of God is within you" (Luke 17:20-21). Paul confirms we are already in the Kingdom of God (Colossians 1:13). The Kingdom is Christ’s "invisible Church," His body, which began during His earthly ministry and continues to rule in the hearts of men today.
So, how does this Kingdom affect us now? The new birth ushers us into the Kingdom of God, which is infinitely greater in wonder and benefits than we can imagine. As we understand how God's Kingdom works and align our lives with it, we can experience a taste of heaven on earth.
Pray for a release into the physical realm of what is already present in your spiritual being.
PRAYER
Lord, let Your Kingdom rule in my heart. Align my life with Your will, and help me live as a faithful citizen of Your Kingdom every day.
Amen
