Embracing God's Healing Grace
And Jesus went forth, saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and healed their sick.
— Mt. 14:14
Hey there! Have you ever wondered why people sometimes think God allows sickness to bless them or teach them something? It's time to set the record straight. Let's dive into the truth together!
In Matthew 14:14, we see Jesus moved with compassion, healing the sick. That's right, His heart was filled with love and empathy, not a desire to afflict His children. So, here's the first question: Does God make His children sick?
The answer is a resounding "No!" God's character is revealed through Jesus, who healed all who came to Him. In the New Testament, there's no account of Jesus making someone sick or leaving them ill to teach a lesson. Instead, He came to destroy the enemy's works and bring healing to the oppressed. (1 John 3:8, Acts 10:38)
Now, let's ask another question: Does God use sickness to perfect us? In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, the Bible tells us that God perfects us through His Word, not through sickness. Placing sickness on His children would be unjust, just as He doesn't use sin for our perfection. In fact, Jesus bore our sickness on the cross to deliver us from it.
So, remember this key verse: "He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds, you have been healed." (1 Peter 2:24)
God's will is not sickness but health and wholeness. Let His compassion and healing power guide your understanding, and trust that His love always seeks your well-being.
