From Head Knowledge To Heart Belief
He replied, ‘Because you have so little faith. Truly, I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.
— Matthew 17:20
Hey there! Have you ever wondered why sometimes, despite knowing all the right things, things don’t turn out the way you expect? Like, you know God can do anything, but still, sometimes it feels like your prayers are just bouncing off the ceiling. Why is that?
Take a moment from Matthew 17. A guy brings his son, who’s having a real tough time, to Jesus’ disciples. They try everything they know to help but end up scratching their heads. When Jesus shows up, he points out the problem straight away: “Because of your unbelief.” They had the know-how and even the authority, but they were missing a key ingredient - faith.
So, what’s the deal with faith? Is it just a one-off thing you declare and then forget about? No. Faith is like a muscle. It grows with use through hanging out with God, diving into His Word, and letting His love fill you up. It’s about living in that sweet spot of God’s presence, where even the tiniest seed of faith can move mountains.
Yet, the remarkable aspect is this: even when doubts engulf us, leaving us questioning if God truly hears us, - it’s not about how much you know or how many times you’ve seen God work in the past. It’s about what you believe in your heart right here, right now. And sometimes, we just need a little reminder to shift our focus from our doubts to His promises.
So, what’s holding back your faith today? Is it distractions, doubts, or maybe you’re just not spending enough time with Him? Whatever it is, know this: faith is not just about believing God can do something. It’s about believing He will, in His time and His way. And that starts with a choice, to trust not just with our heads but with our hearts. Let’s make that choice today, together.
PRAYER
