Rising Above With God's Promises
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
— Isaiah 26:3
Have you ever found yourself drowned in a pool of worries? Pondered over the 'what ifs' so much that it's hard to see a clear way out. Let's dive into what's going on in our minds.
Ask yourself: What's occupying my thoughts more - the worries of this world or the promises of God? "For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace," says Romans 8:6. Are you wondering what 'carnally minded' means? It's not just those harmful thoughts; it's about everything that gets you spiralling into anxiety, sadness, or anger. It's about living in a world ruled by human limitations rather than God's vast promises.
Now, think about this for a second. God says in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." Did you catch that? God's thoughts for you are full of hope and future! Why, then, do we often focus on the negatives? When overthinking our problems and ignoring God's promise, aren't we blocking His blessings?
It's simple: spiritually-minded folks always expect good things. They are all about the connection with God, His assurances, and the big picture. Instead of letting worldly issues bog them down, they're up in the skies, fuelled by God's love, ready to share that love, to give, and to forgive.
Last question for you, and be real with yourself: Do you always anticipate the best from God in your life? If you hesitated, it's time for a heart check and quality time with the Big Man upstairs. As James 4:7 nudges us, draw near to God, and He'll come even closer to you. How awesome is that?
PRAYER
