Thinking Like God
Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
— 2 Corinthians 10:5
God has amazing plans for you! Do you ever wonder how to step into those plans? It all starts with shifting your thoughts from the world’s perspective to God’s. How can we do that? By learning to think like God.
Imagine I say, “Think of a fish.” You might picture any kind of fish, right? Now, if I say, “Think of a purple fish with green stripes,” your mental picture changes. This shows how specific thoughts can shape our minds. If you want to change negative thoughts, you can’t just say, “Stop thinking about that!” Instead, you need to replace those thoughts with something else. Philippians 4:8 says, “Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” This is how we start to think like God.
Let’s take a real-life example. What if your rent is due Friday, but your paycheck doesn’t come until next week? You might start thinking, “I can’t pay rent, I’ll get evicted!” This cycle of worry keeps you up at night. So, how do we break it? We replace those anxious thoughts with God’s promises. Remember Philippians 4:19, “My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” When we focus on God’s Word, our perspective shifts.
So, how can we control our thoughts? By capturing every thought and making it obedient to Christ, as 2 Corinthians 10:5 says. This means actively replacing worry with faith. When negative thoughts creep in, counter them with God’s truth. The Bible is full of promises for every situation. Trust God’s Word, and let it transform your thinking. When you think like God, you’ll see His amazing plans unfold in your life.
