The Power Of Saying Thanks
Always be thankful, no matter what happens. This is what God wants you to do in Christ Jesus.
— 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV)
Have you ever noticed how we often forget to say thank you? In the Bible, Jesus healed ten sick people, but only one came back to say thank you. This shows us that saying thanks is more than just being polite. It's the key to feeling whole and happy.
Why did only one person come back? All ten were healed, but the one who came back got something extra. Jesus said to him, “You're healed because you believed” (Luke 17:19). The others were healed too, but this one felt whole inside. Maybe saying thanks can help us get even more blessings from God.
What happens when we forget to say thanks? We start to think only about ourselves, and this makes us unhappy. Philippians 4:6 tells us to “tell God what you need and thank him.” A thankful heart is a humble heart, and it helps us remember that everything we have comes from God. When we say thanks, we focus on what we have, not what we don't have.
So, how can we say thanks every day? Start small. Thank God for simple things like your health, your family, and what he gives you. Remember, saying thanks isn't just about getting more from God. It's about knowing how good he is. “Thank the Lord, for he is good; his love lasts forever” (Psalm 107:1 NIV). When you do this, you'll feel happy, peaceful, and closer to God.
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for all You’ve done and continue to do in my life. Teach me to have a heart of gratitude every day and to recognize Your goodness in all things.
Amen
