Filling Your Life With God's Presence

Have you ever wondered what it means to be truly free? Jesus once said, “When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, seeking rest but finding none” (Matthew 12:43). This is often seen as a lesson on demon possession and deliverance, but there’s so much more to it.

Jesus wasn’t just talking about getting rid of evil; He was talking about what happens next.

Imagine you clean out a messy room but then leave it empty. What happens? It quickly gets messy again. The same thing happens with our hearts. If we get rid of evil but don’t fill that space with God, we’re left vulnerable. That’s why Jesus warned that if a person is cleansed but left empty, the evil spirit might return with seven even worse spirits, leaving them in a worse state than before.

So, how do we stay free? Jesus gave us the answer. He said, “Fill yourself with God.” We need to let God’s presence fill every corner of our lives. Why? Because as Luke 12:48 reminds us, “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required.” Jesus was speaking to the people of His time, but His words apply to us too. We’ve been given so much – His love, His guidance, His sacrifice. What are we doing with it?

Think about it. Are you filling your life with God’s presence daily? Are you letting His word guide your steps? If not, it’s time to start. Remember, Jesus has given us much, and He asks us to live in a way that honors that gift. Let’s fill our lives with God so we can stay free and truly live the life He’s called us to.
