Forward In Faith
And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
— Hebrews 11:15
Ever wonder why sometimes you're tempted to return to the past? What made Abraham and Sarah so resilient, not even wanting to look back at their past? Guess what? It was where their focus was. Abraham and Sarah had their eyes locked on the promises of God, and they didn't allow the past to distract them. Do you know that what you constantly think about can be your biggest temptation?
Now, let's break it down. Why is our thinking so crucial? Well, have you ever tried to do something without thinking about it? Pretty tough, right? Our actions originate from our thoughts. If you dwell on the past, old habits, or even those mistakes, it can drag you back. Imagine trying to walk forward while constantly looking backward. Not so easy, huh? That's why Hebrews says, if Abraham and Sarah had been mindful of their past, they might have returned.
Here's a nugget: The past is called 'past' for a reason. God has placed incredible dreams, friendships, and adventures in our future. Why look back when there's so much ahead? Ever catch yourself thinking, "What if?" Snap out of it! That's a trap! God's plan is not behind us; it's ahead.
So, friends, here's the deal for today: Shift your focus. Instead of what was left behind, think about the thrilling journey God has laid out for you. Surround yourself with positive vibes and faith-filled friends. And always remember, looking forward with faith will always give you hope and keep temptation at bay. Cool, right? Let's do this!
PRAYER
Lord, free my heart from the pull of the past. Help me not to dwell on old habits, mistakes, or trials, but to look ahead with faith in Your promises. Purify my thoughts so they will not drag me back, but propel me forward into the future You have prepared.
Amen
