Eyes On The Prize
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
— Romans 8:18
Have you ever felt like the world's got you down? Like everything seems too hard, or you're carrying a heavy load? Well, you're not alone. The Bible tells us that even the Apostle Paul faced challenges that we can hardly imagine. But wait a second - How did he get through it? Let’s dive in.
In 2 Corinthians 4:17, Paul says, "For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory." Now, you might think, "Light affliction? Seriously, Paul?" You'd be right to question it because, when you read further about Paul's life in 2 Corinthians 11:23-28, you'll see he went through a lot: beatings, shipwrecks, you name it. But here's the thing: Paul saw these as "light" troubles despite all that. Why? Because of where he set his focus.
Remember playing with magnifying glasses as a kid? When you focus them on something, that thing appears BIG, right? Similarly, if we keep our eyes on our problems, they grow HUGE. But if we shift our focus to God's Word and His promises, suddenly, our issues seem much smaller. They're still there, sure. But they don’t feel as daunting. Isn't that a relief? So, what's the simple secret? Word big. Problem small. Got it?
To wrap it up, life's gonna throw some punches. No doubt about it. But the next time you feel overwhelmed, ask yourself: "Where's my focus?" Remember, we can tackle anything with the right perspective and our sights set on God's promise. Keep your eyes on the prize and watch the magic happen!
PRAYER
Lord, help me keep my eyes on Your promises and not on my problems. Strengthen me to endure trials with faith, knowing Your glory will be revealed in me.
Amen
