Unlocking Wisdom Through Reverence
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom
— Proverbs 9:10
What does it truly mean to be wise? Proverbs 9:10 tells us that "the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom." But what is the fear of the Lord? It is not a sense of terror but a deep reverence, honour, and respect for our Creator.
Why do so many seemingly intelligent people lack this wisdom? Our modern society elevates intellectuals, and yet many of them do not possess the fear of the Lord. Proverbs 8:13 reminds us that "the fear of the LORD is to hate evil." Are we honoring those who deny God's existence and oppose His principles?
What does the Bible say about such people? Psalm 14:1 and 53:1 assert,
"The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God.'" Yet, Psalm 19:1-6 reveals that creation itself is a testament to the existence of God. The beauty of our world, from the majestic mountains to the vast sky, points to a divine Creator.
So, what are we missing? As we travel through life, we must ask ourselves if we are truly seeking the wisdom that comes from revering and honouring the Lord. Are we witnessing the amazing world He made and the proof it gives of His existence?
Today, let us embrace the truth found in the Bible and cultivate a deep reverence for the Lord. Let us honour those who uphold His values and strive to live in accordance with His will. In doing so, we will unlock the wisdom that can transform our lives.
