Divine Healing
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
— Acts 10:38
Our bodies can heal themselves from many types of injuries and illnesses, which can happen in different ways. Sometimes, getting medical help can speed up the healing process. But changing how we live or what we eat can also help us heal. We might experience health problems because we're not taking good care of ourselves or making unhealthy diet choices.
Feeling helpless and hopeless when facing sickness, disease, or injury is easy. However, as believers, we have access to the power of God that can flow through us and bring healing to our bodies.
The ministry of Jesus and the book of Acts give us numerous examples of divine healing. Gifts of healing are mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12, and the laying on of hands and the prayer of faith are mentioned in James 5. It's clear that God wants us to be well, but how do we access His power?
The power of God is released through preaching and hearing the Word of God. As we hear and receive the gospel, our faith is strengthened, and the power of God can flow through us to bring healing. Faith comes by hearing. Miracles are a function of hearing and faith (Galatians 3:5). Therefore, learning to hear God and the gospel is crucial.
But what about those who don't seem to receive divine healing? The answer is that there has not yet been a connection to the power of God. We must continue to hear and believe God's Word, trusting His power is available. All things are possible to those who believe.
