Defending Against Word Missiles
No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn.
— Isaiah 54:17
Ever read Isaiah 54:17 and feel invincible? Right? That no weapon can touch you? But, have you ever paused and really thought about that second part? About the words – or 'tongues' – rising against you? It's not just about physical weapons, y'all. Sometimes, words can be the most dangerous weapons. Ever heard of the saying, "life and death are in the power of the tongue"? (Prov. 18:21). Yeah, that’s about words. They can lift you or tear you down.
How many times have you let harsh words, judgmental comments, or negative thoughts pierce through you? Are you accepting them as truth and allowing them to shape what you believe. Do you just accept them, thinking maybe they're true? Nope, not on God's watch! He's telling us: when these word missiles come flying, shoot them down. And how, you ask? With the ultimate truth - His Word.
Friends, don't just sit there when negativity surrounds you. Maybe a classmate said you can't, or perhaps a relative doubted your dreams. Remember, you've got the Word on your side. Tell them, “Thanks for your thought, but the Bible says I’m more than a conqueror!” Or maybe, “I get where you're coming from, but God's Word says ___, and that’s what I stand on.” The next time a word missile tries to bring you down, you know what to do. Speak life, use God’s Word as your shield, and stay blessed!
PRAYER
Lord, strengthen me in Your Word so no negative word can harm me.
Amen
