Power Of Forgiveness Through Jesus
Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.
— Luke 23:34
Jesus was the only true victim, completely innocent and free of sin. He never did anything wrong, and He never gave in to any temptation. Even though He was perfect, people conspired against Him and condemned Him to death. But Jesus didn't fight back or seek revenge. Instead, He forgave those who hurt Him.
You might think it's easy for Jesus to forgive because He knew He had to die to fulfil His mission. But the Bible tells us we should follow Jesus' example and forgive others, even when we suffer. When Jesus was on the cross, He prayed for forgiveness for those who hurt Him. He asked God to forgive them because they didn't understand what they were doing.
Jesus' prayer for forgiveness wasn't just for those there that day. It was also for everyone who would later trust Him and receive His forgiveness. Our sins put Jesus on the cross, so we are just as guilty as those who nailed Him there. But Jesus' forgiveness is offered freely to everyone who turns to Him.
Forgiving those who have hurt us can be a challenging task. However, when we let go of bitterness and extend forgiveness, we find ourselves experiencing inner peace. This act of forgiveness benefits the person we forgive and frees us from the burden of holding onto anger and negativity. Forgive them!
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, thank You for forgiving me even when I didn’t deserve it. Help me walk in that same grace and freely forgive others, just as You forgave me. Let Your peace fill my heart as I release every hurt.
Amen
