Finding The Unseen Potential

Why can people closest to us sometimes be the hardest to impress? You know, when you're sharing something exciting, and all you get is a "That's nice"? Isn't it curious how Jesus Himself faced something similar? "No prophet is accepted in his own hometown," He said in Luke 4:24. It's like He's telling us, "Hey, if it happened to Me, it could happen to you too." But what's the real deal behind this?

It's all about looking beyond the familiar, beyond what we see on the outside. Ever caught yourself judging a book by its cover or a friend by a bad day? We all have. But here's the surprise: just as Samuel was reminded in 1 Samuel 16:7, "The Lord looks at the heart," we're encouraged to look deeper. Jesus, though fully human, was the embodiment of God's power and majesty. His neighbours saw the carpenter, missing the Messiah right in their midst.

So, what's holding us back from seeing the gold in others or even within ourselves? Maybe it's our obsession with the outer layer, forgetting that each of us has a spark of the divine, a potential that's just waiting to burst forth. 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"

Today, let's challenge ourselves. Can we look beyond the familiar, the exterior, and the faults? Let's believe in the potential within us and others, rooted in Christ's love and power. Who knows what amazing things we'll discover when we start seeing with the eyes of faith? Remember, within every believer is a new creation, ready to shine. Let's be the ones to recognize it, nurture it, and watch it grow.
