The Cost And Reward Living In Christ
Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head."?
— Luke 9:58
Hey there! Ever wonder what it really means to live for Christ? You think it should be smooth sailing, right? But here's the twist - it's not always easy and there are times when it may feel like we are being persecuted for our faith. But let me assure you, my dear friend, that the cost is worth it.
In Luke 9:58, Jesus Himself said, "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head."?. That's pretty heavy stuff, isn't it? Jesus was actually telling them that sometimes, choosing to follow Him may require sacrificing a comfortable place at the end of the day. You might even face rejection like He did when the Samaritans turned Him away. But don't let that discourage you!
Persecution comes in many shapes and sizes. Do you think persecution only means being threatened or physically harmed for your faith? Nope. That's just one part of it.
Sometimes persecution can be as simple and yet damaging as being talked about behind your back or feeling left out because of your beliefs. Yes, it stings, right? It's subtle, but it can wear you down, make you question your worth or your faith. But let me remind you of something, when that happens, remember it's not really you they're rejecting or mocking. It's Christ in you.
See, when we decide to follow Jesus, we choose to share in His sufferings. But you know what? It doesn't end there. We also get to share in His rewards. This idea might seem crazy, but it's true, and it's in the Bible. Matt. 5:10-12 says "Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you."
So, when you face persecution for your faith, when you get those side glances or cruel words, remember, it's because of the light of Christ shining in you. We shout, leap for joy, and continue to shine His light. Yes, we celebrate because we are living boldly for Christ!
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, help me to count the cost of following You and embrace it with joy. Give me strength when I feel rejected or misunderstood for my faith. Teach me to rejoice in every trial, knowing that I share in Your sufferings—and also in Your eternal reward. Let my life shine with Your light, no matter the cost. Amen.
Amen
