Healing Of Offended Heart

Hey there, have you ever felt hurt or betrayed by someone? We all have, right? The truth is, we live in a world where getting offended is almost unavoidable.

The offended person might feel let down by someone in their church or a bad experience there. They could also be upset by a family member or bothered by today's politics and social problems. There are so many ways for hurt feelings to enter and harm our hearts. The problem with holding onto these offenses is that they can grow like weeds, choking out the love and joy in our lives.

What can we do about it, then? The Bible has some advice for us. In James 3:14-16, it says, "But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there." So, the first step is to recognize the offense and the hurt it's causing us.

Now, how do we deal with it? Philippians 4:6-8 encourages us to "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." This means we need to give our hurts to God and let Him heal us.

But what about the person who offended us? Jesus taught us to pray for our enemies and forgive them. It might not be easy, but it's the only way to truly heal our hearts and prevent bitterness from taking root. Choose love. Choose peace. Choose forgiveness.
