Hope Against Hope
Who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.”
— Romans 4:18
Hey, have you ever felt like something was impossible? You were up against a wall, and no matter how hard you tried, it just wasn't happening? Abraham felt the same way. He was 75 years old, and the promise he got was huge! God told him he'd be the father of many nations. But here's the twist: his wife, Sarah? She couldn't have kids.
So, what do you do when facing such impossible odds? You get a promise from God, and it seems, well, improbable? Can you trust it? Let's see what Abraham did. Despite what seemed like a no-go in the real world, he kept his hope alive, not because of what he saw, but because of “what was spoken”. That's right, God's promise was all he clung to.
Do God’s words really hold that power? Isaiah 55:11 says, "So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” Abraham got it. Even with everything seeming to go against him, he held onto that promise. Why? Because God's promises pack power. They aren’t just words. They transform reality.
So, here’s the deal for you: You got this Book, right? The Bible. It's filled with God's promises. Thinking: What's my takeaway? Today, and every day, make it your mission to anchor yourself in God's promises. Feel down? Hit a roadblock? Doesn’t matter. Keep your focus razor-sharp on one thing: What God said. Believe it, embrace it, live it. Because if He said it, He means it. And that's the real deal!
PRAYER
Lord, help me to trust Your promises even when everything seems impossible. Strengthen my faith like Abraham’s.
Amen
