Rethinking Your Thoughts
But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city
— Hebrews 11:16
Hey, have you ever caught yourself stuck in a cycle of negative thoughts and wondered how to break free? Let's do a quick experiment. Imagine an apple in your mind. Now, try to erase that image. Push away those apple thoughts. In Jesus' name, clear your mind of that apple. Now, STOP thinking of apples. Can you still picture that apple? Because the more you try not to think about it, the more it pops up, doesn't it?
What if I told you there's a strategy to deal with that? Instead of focusing on NOT thinking about the apple, start thinking about ripe mangoes or a bunch of bananas. Imagine you're chilling on a tropical beach, munching on them. Feel better? More relaxed? That's the secret - replace those unwanted thoughts with new, positive ones.
This isn't just about fruit, you know? Sometimes, our minds get stuck on things that bring us down. The trick? Replace those thoughts. And what better thoughts to replace them with than the words and promises of God? Just like Abraham, who shifted his focus to the "better country" God promised him, we too can change our mindset. The Bible says, "for he hath prepared for them a city" (Hebrews 11:16). God's got bigger plans and better thoughts for us.
So, when life throws those negative vibes at you, ask yourself: don't you have something better to think about today? Dive into God's word, and let His promises reshape your thoughts. Remember, it's all about the swap!
