Facing Giants With God’s Strength
You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts.
— 1 Samuel 17:45
Are there giants in your life that seem too big to handle? We all face them—fears, insecurities, doubts, and struggles that feel like Goliaths. But here’s the good news: God equips us with a strength far beyond what’s visible. Just as David faced Goliath with complete confidence in God’s power rather than his own, we too can face our giants with courage rooted in God, not ourselves.
What made David so bold? He wasn’t focused on Goliath’s size or weapons but on God’s presence with him. David’s confidence didn’t come from physical strength or skill but from knowing God was on his side. Psalm 18:29 expresses this truth: “For by You I can run against a troop, by my God I can leap over a wall.” When we’re focused on who God is, not on our weaknesses, we gain a courage that the world can’t understand.
Think about it: how would your challenges look if you were fully aware of God’s presence and power in your life? Our insecurities and fears start to fade when we realize that God, the Creator of all things, fights for us. Instead of shrinking back, we can stand firm, not with arrogance, but with humble assurance, knowing that God is bigger than anything we face.
So today, let your heart be occupied with Jesus. Like David, let God’s strength, not fear, lead you. As you face each giant, declare with faith, “I come to you in the name of the Lord.” With Him, no obstacle is too great, and no giant is too strong.
PRAYER
Lord, help me face every giant in my life with Your strength. Fill me with courage rooted in faith, not fear, knowing You fight for me.
Amen
