God Is Willing To Answer Prayers
And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
— Luke 18:7
Have you ever prayed for something and felt like God didn't hear you? Or maybe you doubted that God would even answer your prayer? It's easy to feel discouraged when we don't see immediate results, but Jesus wants us to know that our heavenly Father hears our prayers and is willing to answer them.
In Luke 18:1-8, Jesus told a story about a widow who asked an unjust judge to help her against her adversary. The judge didn't want to help her initially, but he eventually gave in because she kept asking him.
But Jesus isn't saying we need to badger God into giving us what we want. He's contrasting the unjust judge and our loving Father in heaven. God is not like the judge who is unwilling to help. Rather, God is a just judge who will avenge His elect speedily.
Jesus also reminds us that we have an advocate in Him, who always makes intercession for us. And yet, the devil is always trying to deceive us about God's willingness to answer our prayers. We may start to doubt and give up, thinking that God won't grant our requests anyway.
But the truth is that God is faithful, and we can trust Him to always come through for us. We need confidence and determination, knowing that God hears our cries and will help us.
Let's trust in God's willingness to answer our requests and keep coming to Him with our needs and desires. As it says in Philippians 4:6, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
