Choosing Integrity To Make The Right Decisions
The integrity of the upright shall guide them.
— Proverbs 11:3
Have you ever found yourself needing help in the maze of decision-making? We all do, especially during our teenage years when choices are critical. However, we don't need to feel lost. Why? The Bible gives us a compass - integrity. "The integrity of the upright shall guide them" (Proverbs 11:3).
But what is integrity? It's about holding onto moral and ethical principles. It's about being honest, even when no one is watching. It's about striving to reflect God's righteousness in every choice. It's important to remember that integrity is not just an attribute we develop but a reflection of God's character within us.
How can we allow integrity to guide our decisions? It's simpler than you might think. It's about putting God first in our lives. How? By esteeming, valuing, and honoring what God esteems, values, and honors.
I know it sounds like a lot, but hang on. Does this mean every decision requires a divine revelation or a miraculous sign from heaven? Not really. Sometimes, being led by God is as straightforward as doing the right thing. So next time you're at a crossroads, remember:Â God allows us to make choices. Some may lead to losses, while others may unlock blessings. But as we learn to walk in the integrity of the Lord, blessings will inevitably find us.
When Joseph was working in the house of Potiphar, a high-ranking Egyptian official. Potipar's wife tried to entice him into wrongdoing, but Joseph refused. He chose integrity over convenience or even personal safety. He said, "How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?" (Genesis 39:9). Joseph's story is a powerful reminder. Even in challenging situations, when integrity might seem like the stricter path, choosing it can lead to blessings we can't imagine.
Let's avoid getting lost in the maze of decision-making. Instead, let's choose integrity - the beautiful reflection of God's character in us - as our guide. Remember, you don't always need a mystical experience to be led by the Lord. Often, it's about just doing the right thing. Choose integrity, and you will never lose your way.
PRAYER
Lord, I choose integrity as my compass. Help me walk in honesty even when no one is watching. Let Your righteousness guide my choices and protect my steps. Like Joseph, I want to honor You above all. Strengthen my heart to choose what is right, even when it’s hard. Amen.
Amen
