Choosing Faith Over Doubt
Then they despised the pleasant land; They did not believe His word, but complained in their tents, and did not heed the voice of the Lord.
— Psalms 106:24-25
Hey, have you ever found yourself doubting instead of trusting? In Psalms 105 and 106, there's this incredible story about how God released the people of Israel from Egypt. But instead of celebrating their freedom and God's promises, the Israelites found fault in their blessings and didn't trust God's words. They chose to complain and ignore God's voice (Psalms 106:24-25).
And you know what? This twisted them downward, leading them to forget God, imitate wrong behaviours, serve idols, and even make unthinkable sacrifices. All these events serve as warning signs for us today (1 Corinthians 10:6-11). So, what went wrong for the Israelites? Simply put, they criticised God's goodness, didn't believe His Word, and kept complaining.
Have you ever felt like them, questioning God's goodness and promises and asking, "Why didn't God do something?" We all have been there. However, this doubt can initiate the way to bitterness and deception. It's crucial to remember there's no real goodness apart from God.
And what about faith? Believing His Word needs faith, which pleases God (Hebrews 11:6). So when we doubt, we might unknowingly sow the seeds of destruction in our lives. And let's not even start by complaining - it's the trap most of us fall into.
Do you want to live in the fullness of God's promises? You have to choose to enter by faith. So, let's not scorn God's goodness by complaining. Instead, let's use our words to heal, bless, and uphold His will. No more doubt language, okay? Instead, let's speak faith and see how our lives can be truly blessed. Remember, choosing faith over doubt, and complaints is the way to the promised land. Take that leap of faith!
PRAYER
