How To Live Naturally Holy?
For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
— Matthew 13:15
Ever noticed how our hearts can gradually become numb to what's truly important? It's like a slow fade, isn't it? But think about it, does God want our hearts to be numb? Matthew 13:15 talks about how people's hearts can become hardened, their ears deaf, and their eyes closed. It's not something that happens overnight; it's a gradual process.
Why should we bother with the little things? Because those small things, those little compromises, they add up. They can either keep our hearts tender towards God or harden them over time. See, when we keep our conscience clear, even in the little things, it keeps us sensitive to God. It's like maintaining a spiritual radar, constantly tuned in to His presence.
Now, living righteously doesn't earn us God's love, but it sure helps us recognize it. When we're living in sin, our conscience acts like a fog, clouding our awareness of God's love. But hey, it's not God condemning us; it's our own conscience. God's love remains steadfast. It's like John says in 1 John 3:20, God's love is greater than our self-condemnation.
And here's the amazing thing: Holiness isn't about being perfect; it's about staying connected to God. When we're living in line with who we are in Christ, holiness just flows naturally. It's like breathing for a believer, an outflow of our identity in Him. So, let's keep our hearts tender, our ears open, and our eyes fixed on the love of God. That's where true holiness lies.
PRAYER
Father, keep my heart tender and sensitive to Your voice. Help me walk in holiness not by effort, but by staying connected to who I am in Christ.
Amen
