Look And Live
Then the Lord said to Moses, "Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.
— Numbers 21:8
Have you ever felt like you were surrounded by problems, much like the Israelites who were surrounded by those fiery snakes in the desert? Yeah? But have you ever wondered why a snake on a pole? Why this strange solution?
When the Israelites looked up at the snake on the pole, they were saved from the venom coursing through them. Similarly, where do we look when we feel the sting of our own mistakes, regrets, or the world's weight? To understand this, remember that this moment in the desert wasn't just about snakes. It was a preview, a sneak peek of a future moment – when Jesus would be lifted up for us. It tells us that when life bites, look up to Jesus. For in Him, we find life!
You might be thinking, "What's this got to do with me?" Everything, my friend. Just as the Israelites looked at the serpent and lived, Jesus was lifted on the Cross for us. We find freedom, healing, and redemption when we look to Him. Sounds too good to be true?
Here's the deal: Jesus took on everything that could harm or hold us back and offered us His life in return. He took our mistakes and gave us His righteousness. Our pain for His healing. Our bondage for His freedom. Isn't that an amazing exchange?
So, what does this mean for you today? When life gets tough, remember this - as a believer, you're now in a powerful position. You are what He is (1 John 4:17). No more chains, only freedom. No more sickness, only health. No more guilt, only grace. When life bites, look up and live!
PRAYER
Lord, when life bites, help me look to Jesus and live in His freedom.
Amen
