The Power Of Effectual, Fervent Prayer

Have you ever wondered what an effectual, fervent prayer is? It's a prayer that puts forth power and has a real effect. Not all prayers are equally powerful; some are passive and ineffective. So, when do we pray these kinds of prayers? Let's look at the example of Elijah.

Elijah had a word from God that it would rain, but he didn't stop there. He prayed fervently until he saw a cloud the size of a man's hand in the distance. Sometimes, we fail to see God's promises fulfilled in our lives because we haven't prayed with power and fervency. Do you believe that your prayers can make a difference?

Just as there are different kinds of nails in carpentry, there are various problems in life. Some can be resolved by declaring God's Word and taking a proactive stance against the enemy. However, some problems have deeper roots and require faith-filled cooperation with God through prayer.

Elijah had a promise from God, yet he prayed until the promise manifested. He is an example of someone who prayed an effectual, fervent, and powerful prayer. What does this kind of prayer look like? It is a faith-filled enforcement of God's will, a resistance against the enemy, and praise for the full manifestation of what was promised. It is not begging but decreeing what God has decreed. It is our cooperation with God's heart and a divine insistence that His Word prevails over the problem.

Sometimes, we grow passive and give up too soon in our prayer life. We need to understand that it is up to us to enforce God's will through our prayers. Our effectual prayer releases the power of God to impact our circumstances. So, let's be persistent, praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit. (Eph. 6:18)
