Established In His Righteousness
In righteousness you shall be established; you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near you.
— Isaiah 54:14
Have you ever had one of those days where that nagging voice in your head asks, "Who do you think you are?" How about when it taunts you, saying things like, "You call yourself a Christian, but when was the last time you read your Bible?" or "Why should God bless your day after the way you acted this morning?"
Sound familiar? It sure does. So, how do you respond to this voice? Your answer reveals a lot. Ever been like, "You're right. I messed up. I don't deserve God's favor today.”? If so, you might feel you need to earn God's love and approval, like there's this checklist you have to tick off to be good with Him.
But imagine if your response was, “True, I messed up. But it's not about me, it's about Jesus. Because of Him, I'm righteous and loved, regardless of my slip-ups." Doesn't that perspective change everything? It does! We can face our day confidently when we stand on Jesus' love and righteousness. We're not trying to earn anything because we know we're already loved and accepted.
Does this mean we just brush our mistakes aside? No way! Recognising God's unconditional love for us often makes us want to be better. We're so grateful for His love, not because we have to. Being grounded in Jesus' righteousness brings out the best in us, leading us to true holiness. Remember, right believing leads to right living!
