Expecting The Miraculous
For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.
— Mark 6:52
Have you ever been in a situation where you just couldn't see past your problem? Maybe you've felt like there's no way out, even though you've seen God work miracles in your life before. Why do we find it so hard to trust Him sometimes?
The disciples experienced this too. They were terrified when they saw Jesus walking on the water, even though they had just witnessed Him feed five thousand people with a few loaves and fish. Why were they so amazed? Their hearts had become calloused, more attuned to the limitations of the natural world than to the limitless power of God. They forgot what Jesus had done just hours before, and they were overwhelmed by fear.
Are we any different today? How often do we forget God's past faithfulness when faced with new challenges? Instead of remembering His miracles, we focus on our doubts and fears. The Bible says, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5). How can we develop a heart sensitive to God rather than to our fears?
We can start by meditating on God's Word daily. By filling our minds with His promises, we can become more sensitive to His presence and power. Romans 10:17 says, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." The more we immerse ourselves in His truth, the less room there is for doubt.
Let's harden our hearts to fear and soften them to faith, expecting God to show up in miraculous ways, just as He always has.
PRAYER
Lord, I choose to remember Your faithfulness and expect miracles today. Help me tune out fear and stand firm in faith through Your Word. I believe Your power is alive in me right now.
Amen
