Embracing The Power Within

Have you ever wondered why, as believers, we still struggle with negative thoughts, attitudes, and behaviours? The answer lies in understanding the true nature of our heart. In Mark 7:21, Jesus tells us that evil thoughts and actions originate from within the heart of humanity. But what exactly does the heart encompass?

The heart includes more than just our born-again spirit. It refers to our entire being, including our mind and emotions. Although our spirit is made new when we accept Jesus Christ, our soul—the realm of our thoughts and feelings—still needs transformation. In this area, we experience struggles such as pride, foolishness, and other ungodly attitudes.

However, there is hope! In Ephesians 1:17, the apostle Paul prays that what is already true in our spirit—our position in Christ—will become our mental disposition. In other words, He desires us to align our thoughts and emotions with the truth of our identity in Christ.

Living a Christian life is not a matter of struggling to acquire more faith or attempting to draw nearer to God. It's about discovering and embracing the power that is already within us. We have been blessed with all spiritual blessings in Christ (Ephesians 1:3), and we can appropriate these blessings by renewing our minds and aligning our thoughts with God's Word.

So, how can we experience this transformation? By changing our thinking patterns and believing what God says about us. When our spirit and soul agree, our flesh—our outward actions—will reflect the life of God that resides within us.

Today, I encourage you to take a step towards renewing your mind. Embrace the power that is already within you. Meditate on God's Word, pray for wisdom and understanding, and allow the truth of who you are in Christ to shape your thoughts and emotions. As you do, you'll experience the abundant life God has destined for you.
