Faith That Moves Mountains
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
— Matthew 17:20
Have you ever wondered why your prayers seem unanswered, even when you believe? The truth is, sometimes it’s not about how much faith you have but about the doubt that’s creeping in. Jesus tells us that even a tiny amount of faith—like a mustard seed—is powerful enough to move mountains, but only if there’s no unbelief standing in the way. So, what does that mean for us today?
Think about the disciples. They had seen Jesus perform miracles, and they themselves had cast out demons before. Yet, in this instance, they struggled. Why? Because their hearts were more attuned to what they saw than to what they believed. It wasn’t that they didn’t believe in God’s power; it was that their natural, human doubts got in the way. Does that sound familiar? How often do we let what we see around us weaken our faith?
Jesus was disappointed, not because they failed, but because they had the power and authority to succeed but didn’t fully trust in it. We, too, have been given power through the Holy Spirit. “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you” (Acts 1:8). This isn’t just for the extraordinary; it’s supposed to be our normal. Yet, many Christians live far below this potential, comparing themselves to others instead of to God’s standard.
Are you ready to live a life of faith that moves mountains? It starts by not only building your faith but also actively destroying your doubts. When you fully trust in God’s power, you’ll see the impossible become possible.
