Let His Love Shine
He said to them, “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you put it on its stand? For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open.
— Mark 4:21-22
Have you ever noticed how a candle isn’t meant to be hidden away? Jesus likened us to candles, not meant to be stashed under a bed or kept under a basket. Why do you think that is? Well, it’s because just like a candle illuminates a room, we’re called to let our light shine, revealing the goodness of God to everyone around us (Mark 4:21).
God’s love isn’t something to be kept to ourselves. It’s like a flame that’s meant to spread, touching hearts and illuminating souls. The early Christians understood this deeply. They didn’t have all our fancy gadgets, but they had something even more powerful: an intimate experience of Christ’s love. And that love fueled their mission to share the Gospel far and wide, transforming lives wherever they went.
Today, though, it’s easy to get caught up in methods and strategies for spreading the Good News. But if our hearts aren’t overflowing with the love of Christ, all our efforts will fall flat. We can’t give what we don’t have. That’s why we need a revival of our personal relationship with the Lord. When we truly grasp the depth of His love for us, we become irresistible witnesses of His grace (John 13:35).
So, how do we start? We start by letting Him love us. We open our hearts to His embrace, allowing His love to fill us to overflowing. And then, naturally, that love begins to spill out onto everyone we meet. Because in a world starving for authentic love, His love is the light we all desperately need.
PRAYER
Father, let Your love shine through me. Fill my heart with Your presence so that others may see Your light and be drawn to You.
