God Is Not Distant, He Is Abba

How you picture God decides how you pray. If He feels like a strict examiner, prayer turns into a report you submit. If He is your Father, it turns into a conversation.

Jesus called God His Father more than a hundred and fifty times, and then He handed us the same word. Matthew 6:9 says, "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name." The very first word He taught us to say was a relationship, not a title.

Paul takes it even closer. Romans 8:15 says, "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father." Abba is the word a small child uses running into his father's arms. In our language it lands somewhere near Papa.

Look at the order in that verse. You have already received the Spirit of adoption. You are not praying your way into the family, you are praying from inside it. That is the whole vibe shift.

So when the good news drops or the bad news lands and your thumb goes straight to a contact, take it to Him too. No formal opening line needed, just be real. The Holy Spirit living in you is the One who makes that closeness feel true, so ask Him to make it real to you today.

The Creator of everything wants you to talk to Him the way a kid talks to a father who is safe. That is not too much to hope for. That is exactly what Jesus came to give you.
