God Does Not Teach You Through Sickness

Somebody will tell you God allowed this to teach you something. It is usually said kindly, and it does real damage.

If you want to know how God feels about sickness, watch what Jesus did with it. Matthew 14:14 says, "And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick." Compassion, then healing. That is the pattern every single time.

Read the whole New Testament and try to find Jesus making someone ill to improve their character. It is not there. Acts 10:38 describes His ministry as going "about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him." Oppressed of the devil. That is where the sickness is placed.

1 John 3:8 says, "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil." He came to take those things apart. He was not distributing them for spiritual growth.

God does mature people, just not that way. 2 Timothy 3:16 says all scripture "is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." His Word is the tool He uses. So when you are lying awake wondering what God is trying to say through this, you can stop searching. The Holy Spirit will speak to you plainly, and 1 Peter 2:24 already says "by whose stripes ye were healed."

He is not the one holding you down. He is the one who came to lift it off, and He has not changed His mind about that.
