Joseph Prospered Because Someone Was With Him

Some days you feel like one more person in a crowd. Nothing about your week looks chosen.

1 Peter 2:9 says, "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people." Chosen is past tense and it was not based on your performance review. It was decided about you.

Joseph is the clearest example, and his circumstances were terrible. Sold by his own brothers, working as a slave in a foreign house. Genesis 39:3 says, "And his master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand."

Read what the master noticed. Not that Joseph was talented. That the Lord was with him. The thing people could see was not really about Joseph at all.

Which takes the pressure off you completely. You are not trying to impress your way into a better position. Zechariah 4:6 says, "Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts." Whatever you are walking into today, the classroom, the shift, the house full of people who need something, He is in there with you and that is what other people end up noticing.

Joseph was in a slave's quarters when that verse was written about him. Wherever you are today is not too small for God to be obvious in.
