Abraham Looked At The Facts And Kept Believing

How did that make you feel is the question everybody asks now. It is a good question. It is just a terrible foundation.

2 Corinthians 5:7 says, "For we walk by faith, not by sight." If your obedience only runs when your mood cooperates, it is going to be a short walk. Some of the best things you will ever do will be done on a day you did not feel like it.

Abraham is the example, and what is striking is that he was not in denial. Romans 4:19 and 20 say, "And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God."

He knew exactly how old he was. He knew what the doctors of his day would have said. He just did not let those facts get the final say over what God had told him.

So this is not about pretending you feel fine when you do not. Feelings are real and they are worth telling God about honestly. It is about which one leads. You are not required to manufacture certainty, because faith comes from what God said and the Holy Spirit is the one making it solid in you.

Your feelings will change three times before dinner. What He said about you has not moved once.
