Praise Is Your Weapon When Everything Shakes
I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.
— Ps. 91:2
When things get shaky the instinct is to scan around for whoever can fix it. Some person, some system, somebody in charge. You already belong to a different kingdom than the one that is wobbling.
Colossians 1:13 says God "hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son." Delivered and translated. Past tense, already done, nothing to reapply for.
And His promises do not stall. Hebrews 6:14 says, "Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee." That is not a maybe. God said it over Abraham, and He does not do half commitments.
So what do you actually do when the ground moves? You praise. Psalm 18:3 says, "I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies." Praise is not you performing for God, it is you remembering out loud what is already true.
Psalm 103:1 says, "Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name." A few verses later it describes Him as the one "Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies." You do the remembering. The Holy Spirit does the lifting.
Psalm 91:2 says, "I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust." Notice the words I will say. Your mouth gets to agree with God before your circumstances catch up.
PRAYER
Father, thank You that You already moved me into Your kingdom and nothing can move me back out. I am safe in Christ no matter what is shaking around me. Holy Spirit, put praise in my mouth before panic gets there. Steady me in the thing I am watching go sideways. I trust who You are. Amen
Amen
