The Mirror Is Lying About You

The way you see yourself is quietly running your life. Not your goals, not your plans. The picture you carry of who you are and who God is.

1 John 3:2 says, "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is." Notice the order. Seeing Him rightly is what changes us. We grow into whatever we keep looking at.

Israel found that out the hard way. Numbers 13:33 records what the spies said: "And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight." God had already promised them the land. Their self image, not the giants, kept them out of it.

Proverbs 23:7 puts it in one line: "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he." If you carry yourself as a victim, life starts fitting that shape. If you picture God as distant and disappointed, He will feel more like your problem than your Father, even though nothing about Him actually changed.

You do not have to hustle for a better self image. You already are what God says you are, and the Holy Spirit living in you is the one who makes that picture real to you. Ask Him to show you what He sees. He is not shy about it.

Being God's kid means you are more than the face in the mirror on a bad day. That is the whole vibe shift. Look at Jesus long enough and the grasshopper picture just stops fitting.
