Jesus Took The Curse So You Would Not

There is a heaviness some people carry about their family line. The same illness, the same pattern, the same thing going wrong every generation.

Galatians 3:13 says, "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree." Redeemed means bought out. It is finished language, not hopeful language.

Go and read what that curse actually contained in Deuteronomy 28 and it is a long, specific list of diseases and disasters. Then verse 61 covers what the list missed, mentioning "every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law." Even the things nobody had a name for yet.

Being redeemed does not mean nothing will ever come at you. Things still turn up. It means they are turning up against something that has already been paid for, and you are allowed to refuse to accept them as your portion.

Say this carefully to yourself though, because people use it as a stick. If you are sick, it is not because your faith fell short, and God is not disappointed with you. Jesus prayed in John 17:15, "I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil." You are kept in the middle of it, and the Holy Spirit is the one holding you there.

He carried all of it so you would not have to. Whatever your family has always carried, it stopped at the cross.
