God's Love Is Your Real Security

Somebody told you that God protects the people who love Him enough. So you started measuring your own love, and it never quite measured up. That is a rough way to live.

Trying to earn God's care is building on sand. You will always find a day where your love ran thin. God knew that long before He made any covenant with you, which is exactly why He sent Jesus instead of a checklist.

John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Look at who moves first in that sentence. It is not you.

Romans 5:8 nails the timing: "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." He loved you at your worst, so your best was never the qualifier. That flips the whole script on how you approach Him.

Does your love for God matter? Of course it does, but it was never the price of His protection. Romans 8:38-39 says, "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Nothing on that list includes your bad week. The Holy Spirit is the One who makes that real to you, so you are not producing this feeling on your own.

So rest today. Your safety is not riding on how well you have performed since Sunday. It is riding on a love that was settled at the cross and has not moved since.
