His Mercy Does Not Run Out

There is a specific kind of tired that comes from failing at the same thing again. Not the failure itself. The shame of going back to God about it for the hundredth time.

Lamentations 3:22-23 says, "It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness." New every morning. Not new until you finish your allowance for the year.

God is not running a patience meter on you. Mercy is not a supply He is watching drain, it is who He is toward you because of what Jesus finished.

A man named Michael in Australia fought smoking and drinking for years. What broke it was not gritting his teeth harder. Every time the pull came he said out loud that he is the righteousness of God in Christ, on the days he felt it and on the days he felt like the opposite. He was not hyping himself up, he was agreeing with something already true, and the freedom came.

So when you slip tonight, you do not have to earn your way back into the room. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says God "hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." That did not switch off when you failed. Let the Holy Spirit remind you who you already are before guilt gets to write the story for you.

Tomorrow morning the mercy will be there again. It always is.
