You Are Not Waiting On God To Heal
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
— James 4:7
When somebody is sick, the first instinct is to ask God to decide whether to heal. That question was settled at the cross. The waiting room you are sitting in is not God making up His mind about you.
Paul prayed something very specific for the Ephesians. Ephesians 1:18 says, "The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints." He did not ask God to send more. He asked for their eyes to open to what had already been handed over.
And what came in that inheritance? Ephesians 3:20 says, "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us." According to the power that worketh in us. Present tense, already inside.
That is why James 4:7 reads the way it does, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." You are not begging heaven for permission. You are standing on ground Jesus already took, and sickness can be resisted the same way anything else from the enemy is resisted.
Now hear this clearly. If you are sick right now, that is not a report card on your faith, and God is not making you ill to teach you something. Plenty of people who love God deeply are unwell today. Getting prayer, getting treatment and leaning on other believers is not weakness, and the Holy Spirit carries you either way.
Mark 16:20 says the disciples went out preaching, "the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following." The Lord working with them, not them working alone. Speak to your body from that place, lean on the Spirit in you, and keep standing in what Jesus already paid for.
PRAYER
Father, thank You that healing was settled when Jesus took it on Himself. I am Your child and Your life is already at work in my body. Holy Spirit, teach me to stand in the authority Jesus gave me without fear or striving. Strengthen my body today. I receive it by faith. Amen
Amen
