The Blood Was Never About Your Record

On the night Israel left Egypt, the households that were passed over were not the well behaved ones. Nobody was assessed. The only question was whether there was blood on the doorpost.

That is worth sitting with, because we assume protection is earned. Inside those houses were people having a good year and people having a terrible one, and the same blood covered both.

John the Baptist saw Jesus coming and said in John 1:29, "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." He used the Passover word. Everybody listening knew exactly what he meant by it.

So when the thought comes that you have failed too much for this, that you barely show up anywhere, look at Ephesians 1:7. "In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace." According to His riches. Not according to your attendance.

Abel's blood cried out for justice from the ground. Hebrews 12:24 says we have come to "the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel." One demanded payment. This one announces it has been made. Romans 5:9 says we are "now justified by his blood," which means the verdict is already in and the Holy Spirit is not waiting for you to improve it.

You are not covered because you held it together this year. You are covered because He was, and the blood is still on the door.
