God Keeps Showing Up In Ordinary Things

We keep waiting for God to show up in something dramatic. Meanwhile the week goes by, and it feels like nothing happened.

John 14:7 says, "If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him." Jesus is telling people who had been walking beside Him for years that they had been looking at God the whole time.

Sit with how strange that is. They watched Him eat. They saw Him tired. And they still missed what they were standing in front of, because it did not look like what they had been expecting God to look like.

There is a reason He works this way. 1 Corinthians 1:27 says, "But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty." When He uses the small and unimpressive, nobody can take the credit off Him.

Which means your ordinary week is not the waiting room. The text that came at the right moment, the change of mind you cannot explain, the friend who would not let it go. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you where He has already been working, because most of it you have been walking straight past.

He is not saving Himself for something big enough to be worth turning up to. He has been here all along, in the small things you did not think counted.
