Expecting A Harvest Is Not Greedy

Somebody told you it is greedy to expect anything back when you give. That is not how the Bible handles it. Expecting a harvest is not a character flaw, it is how God set the whole thing up.

Genesis 8:22 says, "While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease." Seedtime and harvest sits in the same sentence as day and night. God built it in and He is not embarrassed by it.

The Bible is full of people who found this out the practical way. A widow gave Elijah her last meal in a famine. A boy handed over his lunch. Peter loaned Jesus his boat for an afternoon. Not one of them walked away smaller.

Jesus said it directly in Luke 6:38, "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." He did not put money in a separate category. Your money is your time and your skill in another form.

None of this is buying favour from God. He already gave you Jesus, which was everything, before you handed Him anything. You are sowing out of a supply that is already yours, and the Holy Spirit is the One who shows you where and when.

Whatever is in your hand today is either seed or it is just something you are holding. The future you get is shaped by what goes in the ground now. Sow it with joy and let God run the harvest.
