One Habit That Changes Your Whole Outlook
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
— Ephesians 5:20
Complaining is easy and it is contagious. The commute, the workload, the person who never texted back. It builds a lens, and after a while you only see through it.
Ephesians 5:20 says, "Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." Read that carefully. It is thanking God in everything, not calling every painful thing good. He is not asking you to be grateful that something hurt you.
Psalm 100:4 says, "Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name." Thanksgiving is the door. It is not the reward for getting your life sorted out first, it is how you get into the room.
Complaining is not a small sin to feel guilty about. It is a weed. It quietly eats the ground where something better could have grown, and it blocks your view of what God is already doing.
Start ridiculously small. Thank Him that you woke up, that there was food, that somebody in your life loves you. The Holy Spirit will meet you right there, because gratitude is not you manufacturing good feelings. It is you agreeing with what is already true.
Hard things will still be hard. But you go through them with your eyes open instead of shut, and that changes what you find. Give thanks and watch what shifts.
PRAYER
Father, thank You for everything You have already done for me in Jesus. I am loved and I am not lacking. Holy Spirit, turn my complaining into thanksgiving today and open my eyes to what is good. Show me three things I have been overlooking. I choose gratitude by faith. Amen
