God Is Not The One Hurting You
Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
— 2 Peter 1:2-4
Real talk, a lot of us quietly believe God is behind our worst days. The diagnosis comes, the money runs out, someone walks away, and somewhere in the back of the mind sits the thought that God set it up to teach us something. He did not. God is not your enemy.
1 John 4:16 says, "And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him." Love is not a mood God slips into when you have been good. It is what He is. A God who is love does not hand you suffering as a lesson plan.
So where does the good stuff come from? James 1:17 answers it plainly: "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." He gives. He does not take.
And He already proved it in the most expensive way possible. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." If He handed over His Son before you ever asked, you can stop wondering whose side He is on.
You are not waiting on God to equip you. 2 Peter 1:3-4 says, "According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust." It says hath given, past tense. The Holy Spirit living in you is the one who makes that real in an ordinary Tuesday, not your willpower.
Here is the thing. If you are sick or struggling right now, that is not a scoreboard on your faith and it is not God teaching you a lesson. He is not your problem, He is your solution, and the love that gave you Jesus has not shifted an inch since.
PRAYER
Father, thank You that You already gave me Your Son and every good thing that comes with Him. I am Your child and You are not against me. Holy Spirit, quiet the voice that tells me my pain came from God. Show me His goodness somewhere in this week. I rest in what Jesus already finished. Amen
Amen
