You Have A Father, Not A Boss

A lot of us pray to a boss. Someone who checks our output, notes what we missed, and decides how warm to be based on the week we had. That is not who is listening.

Romans 8:15 says, "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father." Abba is not formal language. It is what a kid yells across a house.

Here is the difference worth sitting with. A boss relates to you based on your performance. Your Father relates to you based on Jesus' performance, and that record is spotless and permanent.

Galatians 4:7 makes your position clear: "Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ." Not staff. Family. You did not get hired, you got adopted.

So when you come to Him after a rough week, you are not filing a report. The Holy Spirit inside you is the one saying Father, and He says it just as freely on the days you feel like you have nothing to show.

You are not being driven, you are being led. The God who runs the universe wanted to be your Dad, and that was His idea long before it was ever yours.
