Words Spoken Over You Are Not Final

Someone said something about you years ago and you can still hear it. A teacher, a relative at a wedding, a comment under a post. A physical threat is easy to spot. Words get in quieter than that.

Isaiah 54:17 says, "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord." Most people stop reading at the weapon part. Look at the second line again. Every tongue. God put words in the same category as weapons because He knows exactly what they do.

Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." That is why one sentence said over you at fifteen can still be shaping how you apply for jobs at twenty five. The words did not just sting. You agreed with them.

Here is what flips the whole script. Isaiah calls this your heritage, and it says your righteousness is of Him. You did not earn that standing, so nobody's opinion gets to revoke it. Words only stick where you agree with them.

So condemning the tongue is not shouting back at people. It is answering the sentence in your own head with what God said. When the old voice says you will never handle money properly, you say out loud what God says about your provision, even if you feel silly the first few times. The Holy Spirit is the one who makes those words real inside you. You are not talking yourself into confidence, you are agreeing with something that is already true.

The words already spoken over you are not the verdict. God got the last word on you, and He said it a long time ago.
