Jesus Did Not Come To Patch You

You keep trying to fit a new life into an old frame. New commitment, same old system of earning God's approval. Jesus was never interested in patching you up.

He said it in Matthew 9:16-17: "No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse. Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved."

The old garment is the law. Sew grace onto it as a patch and you make the tear worse, because the two pull in opposite directions. One says earn it. The other says receive it.

Same with the wine. Old skins have already stretched as far as they go, and new wine is still working. The mercy Jesus brought was never going to fit inside a system built on performance, so He did not try to squeeze it in.

So stop repairing what He wants to replace. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." He did not come to applaud your attempts at being righteous. He became your righteousness. The Holy Spirit is not helping you fix the old thing, He is living out the new one from inside you.

That is the whole vibe shift. You are not an old life with improvements bolted on. You are new, and everything He pours into you finally has somewhere to go.
