Greater Is In You Than Against You

If God is good, why is so much of this so bad. It is a fair question and it deserves a straight answer rather than a nice one.

John 10:10 says, "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." There are two sources at work here, and they want opposite things. Most of what people blame on God belongs on the other side of that verse.

1 John 4:4 says, "greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world." Greater is comparative. It assumes there is something out there worth comparing to, and then it settles the comparison.

Straight up, that does not make you untouchable. Hard things will still come. It means you never meet them on your own, and the outcome is not decided by whether you were strong enough that day.

When the guilt turns up and says you do not qualify for any of this, Ephesians 2:8 and 9 answer it. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." A gift you did not earn cannot be lost by a bad week. Proverbs 11:21 says "the seed of the righteous shall be delivered," and you are righteous because He gave it, not because you kept score well.

Whatever is coming at you is real. It is also outmatched, and it has been since the day the Holy Spirit moved into you.
