You Do Not Have To Win That Argument

You found something real in God and someone close to you made a joke about it. Or worse, they got sharp about it. The instinct is to defend yourself, loudly.

Proverbs 15:1 says, "A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger." A soft answer is not weakness. It is the only move in the room that actually lowers the temperature.

But you can only give away what you already have. Romans 14:17 says, "For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost." Righteousness, peace and joy are already inside you by the Spirit. Your peace was never sourced from other people approving of you.

That is the whole vibe shift. If your joy depends on the room, every critic gets a vote. If your joy is in the Holy Ghost, the room can say what it likes.

You are not responsible for the storm. You are responsible for the light. Matthew 5:16 says, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Notice where it lands. They see it and they end up looking at the Father, not at you.

So no, you do not have to win it. Answer gently, keep your joy, keep shining. The Spirit in you does more convincing in a year than an argument does in an evening.
